In this introduction to Yin Yoga series presented by Erin Sian Brea, students will get to explore the physical benefits of Yin Yoga as well as how it can help us energetically, emotionally and mentally.  Yin Yoga works deeply into our body with passive, longer-held poses. It targets the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body. This is in contrast to a Yang Yoga practice such as Vinyasa Yoga which targets the muscles and can be intense. Benefits of Yin Yoga include increased flexibility, improved circulation, enhancing range of motion, improving emotional balance, reducing symptoms of stress.

Participants should bring a yoga mat, strap and/or block if they have them. Participants also encouraged to register for all 3 sessions, as they will build off each other.

As a former co-owner of an Athletic Center, Erin Sian Brea realized the serious need for stretch therapy for her athletes/clients. In 2021 she received her Yin Yoga certification training from Jiiva Yoga Center in Stratford, CT. Her favorite thing about Yin Yoga is that anybody can do it. It doesn’t matter whether you feel like the Tin Man or a rubber band, you simply start where you are today and grow from there.
