Sprout Early Learning Backpacks

The North Branford Libraries have added Sprout Early Literacy Backpacks to our children’s collections. Each themed backpack includes books, toys and activities with easy to follow “how to” guides to make learning fun. The guides provide simple instructions and at-home tips to extend play and interject conversation. All materials are developmentally appropriate for young children (toddlers to preschoolers) and reinforce early literacy concepts, so stop on by and check one out today.

  • Backpacks are available for 21 day checkouts
  • Backpack are held behind the children’s desks for checkout, so just ask to see one in-person
  • Backpacks must be returned to their home library, so Atwater Memorial or Edward Smith

Atwater Memorial Backpacks

Backyard discovery bag includes a bug catching kit along with books and a bug puzzle to complete. Pizza shop bag includes a wooden pizza pack with telephone and Velcro toppings. The seasons bag has a four season puzzle along with magnetic dolls that can change clothes according to the weather. Seasonal books are included. The writing bag includes a pack of story starter cards for inspiration along with a erasable writing board and books about reading and writing.

Edward Smith Backpacks

Families are special bag focuses on different family formations through books, plastic dolls and various foods with plates and utensils to match. I am special bag includes a memory matching game based on emotions through pictures of kids' faces, books about loving yourself and a mirror. Life cycle of a butterfly bag includes plastic representations of each of the phases along with a butterfly puzzle that identifies different species of the butterfly. Books are included.
